Kurt Busch won't be making a quick trip back to the NASCAR racetrack any time soon.
23XI Racing stated on Thursday morning that the driver of the No. 45 23XI Toyota is withdrawing out of the playoffs and will miss the start of the postseason.
The 44-year-old driver is dropping out of the NASCAR playoff race, giving the other unqualified racers another chance to make the 16-driver cut.
10-race postseason will get underway on September 4 at Darlington Raceway with the Southern 500.
Busch hasn't competed since July 17 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, when he won the 2004 Cup championship.
Busch spun and struck the wall forcefully the next weekend at Pocono Raceway during qualifying.
This season, there have been 15 different race winners, and 15 drivers have qualified for the 16 available playoff slots, according to Busch and NASCAR's announcement on Thursday.
