In California, a former Browns player was discovered dead.

After rescue teams reacted to reports of injuries, a woman and a former NFL player were discovered dead close to a California peak, according to police.

Following a distress call on Wednesday, the Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department dispatched a crew to Tahquitz Rock close to Idyllwild.

The climbers were discovered dead after a crew made their way into the rugged, steep terrain, according to the department.

Gavin Escobar, a former NFL player and firefighter from Long Beach, California, has been named as one of the climbers by numerous media including the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Escobar, 31, of Huntington Beach, California, was pronounced dead at 1:18 p.m., roughly an hour after it was initially thought he and Walsh were hurt, according to the Sheriff's Department.

Escobar started working for the Long Beach Fire Department in February, and on Thursday afternoon, the department reported his death.

Escobar, a San Diego State-bred tight end, spent five seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, scoring eight touchdowns during that time.
